Gas flues and fine snow
Had to clear snow that drifted over the gas flue exhaust this morning (over the old cottage) this fine dry snow had built up around over night resulting in boiler shut down, with high gusting winds and resulting drifting it might be a good idea to leave your heating on low at night/day ....go have a check folks .

Hi SS,

That was a PITA! ....and could have been a big problem if you weren't able to clear it yourself.

And thinking about it, I suppose worse case scenario is thathe auto shut-down didn't function and you'd have had issues with carbon monoxide build up I guess??

Throughout the heating season we run continuously as its easier to get the house up to temperature and keep it there. The advantage of keeping snow melted from the chimneys is secondary.
