Food prices

Two years down the road from my last post in this thread and I must ask,

Has anyone starved to death yet?

What did you have to leave off in order to eat?

Nobody will starve to death but plenty will eat cheap nutritionally poor food and those with a brain will eat a 3rd world diet of beans ,vegetable and rice .

My meat intake is about twice a week now not for the cost but but for healthy lifestyle.

MB,

The simple answer is Yes. But, it is only the stupid, those dependant on the stupid or those in the care of the state who do so in the West. I don't see anyone here falling into either of those categories.

Interestingly enough I'm eating much less now I have semi retired and ironically I have more spare cash now. Just have to ensure that the kids don't sign me up for one of the NHS's 'care programmes'

One of my hobbies as a member of the "retired", is watching local news broadcasts from around the world. (God bless the internet!) They are mostly from the former British colonies around the planet due to the shared language, sort of.  I have a difficult time translating some of the "Afrocaribeanengli-babbel" of my southern neighbors.

I get a look at their economy, culture and attitudes and I have noted that most of what we call "third world" seems to be very well fed on the universal rice, beans, maize and pure cane sugar that are common crops with many of them.  Those in high sugar producing areas are usually over weight and deal with diabetes and blood pressure problems on a national level.

The skinny ones are in the "failed states" that were once normal but now do not actually qualify as developing nations.  Yea, the ones where the social order has completely collapsed, savage gangs or tribes roam and rule, there is no grid and not an infrastructure convenience in sight. Hati, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, backwoods Congo, Venisualia.

Yea, the ones where someone pushed the "reset" button.
