Hi everyone
This should be nice and simple. I've almost finished mini-cache number 1. Just need to seal some disinfectant, then get a tube of tooth paste (got to love the pound shop).
It's contents is sweet and simple. So far it contains:
7 tins of food
2 tooth brushes
1 roll of toilet paper
1 small tub of disinfectant
4 bars of soap (1 multi-pack)
The items left to put in are
2 space blankets
1 tube of tooth paste
I know this mini cache is kind of a bit of everything and a lot of nothing, but that's what I want for the first few. After that I'll work on making more specialised caches. Like one for clothing, one for medical supplies, one for food, etc. But for now, I'm sticking with the first few being multi packs, incase I lose 1, I've not lost too much. However, I'll probably end up refitting the cache to get more stuff in it.

I'm new to most prepping things, but especially caches, as I've never seen much of a use for them once I've learned to live off the land properly. However, I'm nowhere near living off the land properly, so caches are going to be helpful right now.
I'm using very small tubs, but I get them for free as a by-product of having protein supplements....speaking of which, I think I have a small protein tub at work (woo, cache number 2).
I'm going to start looking at larger caches in the future, but for now, I want to make small ones that will provide me with enough stuff to survive a couple of days in relative comfort.

Be careful when packing anything metal, the metal detector types get everywhere, I am not saying don't pack metal, like cans of food just saying even though it can be harder going into a dense area the gain for metal bury type cache is if they can’t swing a detector they won't sweep that zone.
Also put that container in a heavy duty plastic sack.
I see problems with your cache I think I will back off and let you rethink your cache.

Some day's, weeks, you wont be able to live off the land, Bad weather, Uninvited mobs close by, So a cache is always a good back up option as well.

If the metal is more than 24inches down it takes a very specialist unit to detect metal. So put the tins at the bottome and bury it at least 20 inches down.
You want to spread tthe load in the caches. I try and put several days worth of supplies in one. Food for two days, water for two days, toilet paper, a knife some fuel for the stove, maybe even a stove or a spade or some tools.
You don't want to have to dig up all your caches at once.
