A Nagging Prep
Something has been nagging me for a while now, I am a family man I have a large family all my life I have had family around me, I now myself have quite a few kids, and I also have something at the back of my mind that I know I should prep them for but I don't want to, in the end I feel I have to sit them down and have the chat.
The nagging thing is, I know I should tell them to consider leaving this rock and move to another country and start a life, so am I right to be thinking this as it seems to be in every bone of my body to offer this advice to them, is there hope for this country I see no more than doom and gloom in the UK and that’s not shtf talk just what is already here now and can only get worse.
What do you think, fathers and mothers?

Don't know, question is what other Country? if other's are not facing an economic collapse there lives are at risk from crazy weather, disease or war, I'd find it hard to recommend a good place for my kids to live.

W&C,
I thought the same however I don't see anywhere else on this planet to move to now the US has turned into a Socialist country.
I think that you are best preparing here where you know the situation, you already know the rules and the environment. You won't have to find somewhere new, set everything up and start again. Your kids won't have to learn anything new and you won't be kicked out because your government caused a row with your new government.
Bite the bullet and buckle up. That was my decision.

TOF jnr has had the pep talk I think it's only right to encourage your offspring to make the best life they can, whether that's here or elsewhere is down to the youngin's. I don't necessarily think this country is any better or worse than others. All countries have their good and bad points.

RE: A Nagging Prep
I want my son to get as far away from the UK and EUSSR as possible, Rome is falling and the barbarians are at the gates. Socialism is sucking the very life out of britain with higher and higher tax burdons on less and less wealth creating private sector workers. The government regardless of left or right is getting ever more repressive and extremist as time goes by. More and more ordinary decent working class kids will never get a decent education, or be able to afford a mortgage, millions more wont be even able to live in the same towns as their parents driven out by property speculators and migrant families who will accomodate up to 20 people in one ordinary house. South Island NZ, Alaska, The Canadian northernmost povences, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Serbia, Northern Australia they are the few remaining places left for decent people with aspirations to go. The Home counties are lost and falling apart, all the larger metropalis are failing. If you love your kids and dont want them living on benefits or working 60 hours for a pittance in a job they hate encourage them to go.

RE: A Nagging Prep
I like the sound of Australia. My missus won't go because of the creepy crawlies. Another thing is that while Auzland seems remote, it is coming within the sphere of Chinese influence now. Trade deals are already agreed for these two nations to work together & the US is bolstering Australia's Northern defences facing China. With the abundance of resources on the Aussie mainland and with China heading towards expansionism, then I am not sure the area will not become a Chinese dominated battlefield at some time in our living future. I nowadays think New Zealand may be a safer bet.
Also, Canada?? I do know that the US elite has had long term desires for the annexation of Canada & it's resources. Maybe not through open warfare, but more likely behind the scenes politics, diplomacy & wads of stuffed brown paper envelopes. The outward evidence of this would be new laws & rules that merge the Canadians into the US system of economics & combined military/civil protection. So maybe this is not so bad, BUT, where the US is heading could possibly oneday be an unhealthy dark place and therefore being lumped in with them may not be a good thing.
Iceland could be a safe place to go. Did you know that when the Black Death ravaged the Northern hemisphere, then Iceland was the only Nation to emerge unscathed. They have a healthy diet if not somewhat limited without imports. The pollution is negligible. They have a small population. Modern technology is now being used to tap the geothermal resource. With Iceland being the first nation to go into financial meltdown in the present economic financial crisis, it has manged to build a new financial system and throw off the shackles of the corrupt old one which the rest of us are still manacled to. Because of this, Iceland is in a better position to weather any further economic meltdown of the Western Bloc. It has been tough for them but they have had a reality check and are getting back to their own national independence & roots.
Any others?

Being an English National, born and bred, raised and raising, there is no finer place on earth to live. This is truly the original land of hope, Oppertunity, and glory.
Our 3 boys can make up their own mind as they grow, learn and adjust, but for now I have to try and teach them the grey area between Barbarian and Roman!
Only then, I feel, will they be ready to go walkabout, if they so choose and if it's not too late.
You have to get up early to catch a fox.

RE: A Nagging Prep
Apart from where to go to, will anybody take them or even you?
We've looked into upping sticks and going but have few desirable certificated skills or paper qualifications.
So with a poor education (courtesy of successive governments) and the move to price out higher education, your kids could have a problem being accepted where ever they might choose to go.
My Mrs (SWMBO) came up with one solution guarenteed to get us or anyone anywhere in the world. Win the lottery.
MY brother in law and tribe went to NZ. I recently asked him if he was coming back.
1/2 hour later he stopped laughing. Glad it was on free Skype time.
Apart from that I'm too old and knackered to join the US army even though they are reputedly looking for English speaking soldiers. Serve 3-5 and you get a free green card.
You may even get posted back to the UK on peacekeeping duties as part of the New World Army!

i dont think there is another country that hasnt got the same problems we have or worse. i tried to emigrate to Canada in the late 1970s but they had virtually shut the doors to new immigrants even then. i love my country, i was born and raised here, i love Devon especially North Devon( its where my family have lived for centuries) and i wont be moving out of the county.
Some people that prefer to be alone arent anti-social they just have no time for drama, stupidity and false people.

Funny how US, Canada, NZ, Australia (the list goes on) don't want the British. Any other race, open door, British.......No.
Anyone would think nobody likes us.
