the only reason that nuclear power seems to be the only option is because there are too many people, if we had less people then you wouldnt need so much power and then other options, instead of nuclear, would be viable. the more people you have, either born here or immigrants, then the strain on services, not just power generation but water,sewerage, council services, transport etc.etc., becomes greater, in the end something WILL have to give, you cannot just carry on having more and more people without there being a consequence, eventually "the system" will collapse, and the result will be anarchy & revolution!!

i think that Anarchy & Revolution ARE very possible, look at last years riots, look at the G12 protests, i dont think it will take much and i think there are plenty of people in this country who will take to the streets, add in the moslems and anyone else with an axe to grind and pretty soon you will have mayhem and bloodshed on the streets!

and that's why I'm planning for civil uprising first, second, and third.
To have the country as a whole to kick off would take something extremely big though hurting EVERYONE.

Last years riots, G12, even the mass protests by the unions were over quickly.
The UK sheeple moaned, watched TV, screamed that they should all be locked up and their benefits stopped.

Then didn't the Strictly Ballroom finale happen?

I know it was something important that distracted the sheeple.

Civil uprisings on a mass scale only happen abroad as they at least have passion.
I'm not condoning or wanting riots or uprising cause I'm afear that me and my own might get hurt but you've got to admit it's not often UK as a whole gets upsets.

We could generate a lot more power from renewables and not just the standard ones already mentioned. The reason we do not have a cultural shift towards this is due to the vested interests of the corporate world intertwined with government. Yes it will cost more to set up but so does every technological revolution. The other 50% of future power capacity is to reduce our use in the first place. For the same reasons above, this is not in the vested interests already stated. We are presently very wasteful and gadget obsessed for the majority. Our energy use increases faster than any new efficiencies eventually come on line.

Nuclear power is magnificently inefficient when it comes to a cost/benefit ratio and that does not include the disasters & perpetual clean up operations that go on or even the possible major nuclear disaster event possibility. If the money was spent on small scale localised renewables and personal kit that generates its own power + new efficient infrastructure - not only would we have a vast improvement on this scenario but also many more industries & jobs would be created throughout society and the vested interest wealth would not be concentrated into the hands of a few international corporations and their political backers.

well, if the EU takes any more of our money watch out! what about if and when the european bubble bursts and the whole thing comes tumbling down? this could have an effect on life at home(dont know if it'll be good or bad, but it might save the country some money), greedy bankers, recession, bad weather, anything you want to think of could cause an economic collapse, if we as a country havent got enough money to pay for imported oil or gas then supplies will stop, no oil means no petrol or diesel, no heating oil, no petrol or diesel means no deliveries to shops, no food in the shops leads to riots etc.etc. eventually you have anarchy and TEOTWAWKI!!

We have plenty the US could potentially want...
We may well be allies, friendly fire not withstanding, but once the finite resources of the world are admitted to being critically low; I really don't imagine the US will object to turning the UK into a very convenient staging area, with or without consent.

So, we make a great staging area with which to hit europe...
They're already familiar with our military assets and technology.
We're currently allies for whom apparently we'll bend over backwards to make happy.

It wouldn't surprise me if in a couple of years, assuming things don't go tits-up first, we see an increased US military presence.
