Bugging out contact
So your bugging out, your walking along when you see someone, they look to be alone and they look like there a prepper as well, what would you do?
My Personal Choices
(assuming they haven't seen you)
Personally after a few minutes of looking them over through the binocs/scope if i deemed them to be alone and not a threat, id make contact, approaching slowly but with my weapon armed and ready to fire, be friendly as possible and lower weapon once you've deemed the person to not be an immediate threat to yourself. get talking and gather information about the area they were in if i had to head that way, and possibly even trade supplies
(assuming they have seen you)
The sort of thing going through my head would be: are they in a group/are they a scout/are they armed, id raise my weapon and approach slowly stating im friendly but i will retaliate if attacked, state im just passing and mean no harm, then hopefully if it goes well, trade information and possibly supplies and be on my way
If they aren't alone id try and be as friendly as possible but nobody knows exactly what will happen until it does.
Opinions, Criticisms and thoughts welcome...

RE: Bugging out contact
Given the opinions expressed by many on this site prepper or not I'd run the other way.
They are just as likely to kill you and take your stuff as they are to shake your hand.

TBO i dont think i'm likely to meet any preppers in this neck of the woods, so if i cant avoid them, i would announce that they shouldn't come any nearer or i will shoot!!
Some people that prefer to be alone arent anti-social they just have no time for drama, stupidity and false people.

Socialist prepper my arse!! lol
As for this thread, after seeing it in similar guises many times over, I now regard it as one that is likely to attract a subliminal level of fantasy & pre SHTF tough talking. It will not be so straight cut or easy to deal with PSHTF. For one, any switched on prepper would not be ramping up his own mortality likelihood by automatically pursuing an opportunistic aggressive action. Better it would be to assess each situation individually and then take the appropriate response.
"How far back in time do you think our future will be?"

RE: Bugging out contact
I have pre arranged mutual support agreements with other preppers both on this forum and at other sources, IF TSHTF those of us with reciprocating MSA's can join together and share resources. HOW ? because over the years we got of our arses and met each other and got to know each other so our families become closer. Yes its a slight risk but I think the benefits outweigh the risks.
As for others who we share forum communities with well i would always try to assist them if i could within reason, and providing we were past the risk of starvation bit of TSHTF I would hope we could try and help each other rebuild our lives whilst retaining our individual family units.
The problem in the Uk for many preppers wanting coops, groups, communes etc is the age old story of outright apathy, most people wont travel to meet others so friendships and trust does not flourish.

Groups aren't for me, chatting on the internet is not going to enable me to judge whether someone is suitable to work with. Meeting up once or twice a year for a natter at a RV in the local pub or event is slightly better but not by much, not enough for me to put my supplies and family at risk by linking up with them in the hope that they are good guys.
Unless I have known the person for years, through good times and bad, and they are fairly local to me, then all the talk of groups is imo just a nice idea but not practical, for me at least, it may be practical for others.
I have met quite a few preppers and survivalists over the years and enjoy meeting up and swapping ideas, viewing kit etc but I dont go to these meetups with a view to joining or starting a group, I became disillusioned with that idea many years ago
You have the right to hold any beliefs you want. You do not have the right to have those beliefs automatically respected

RE: Bugging out contact
i think your are right 1B1, about after TSHTF not being many preppers in our respective areas, i think OH and i will be on our own, all the neighbours are sheeple and not worth a damn, we will bug in if possible but if it all goes pear shaped we will bug out as OH dosent think it will be safe here. i do think your wrong about meeting people though, how are you going to know if one of our members is trustworthy if you never meet them?, thats why i've been to the WG 2 years running so that i can meet other preppers(pre arranged) and get to know them, so if i run into them post TSHTF i KNOW who to trust!

EGG Zactly, but to be fair cooperation tweeen groups or families is simply not everyones cup of tea. My fascinating chats with Barneyboy and making me think very hard about the extra and possibly unneccessary risks from cooperating if socialist principles are involved.
I wonder if my friend title means he is from Barnsley or as its properly called the Peoples socialist republic of Barnsleybad , I built a WF there and have never come across so mant left wing nut jobs in one place !!
