too true.
The same can be said for a lot of goverment organisations! It seems you get penalised for contributing to society these days, and the dregs get preferential treatment! (dregs being those that dont wanty to work!! etc)
in some cases, those with the least to say, say the most.....

Ok - This is a VERY important thread.
The threat of a+e meltdown is almost upon us even if not here already. The stories quoted above would say that it has already melted down. I have had recent experienced within the last two weeks where service was excellent even though very busy. A dear friend of mine had terminal lung cancer. He was having problems with breathing and I took him in the car to a+e. On getting out of the car he couldn't move any more - breathless. I got assistance and he was seen straight away - the paperwork caught up later. His BloodOx was only 65% - Well we got him round again and he was admitted but after a few days discharged himself because he wanted control of his own pain relief. (OralMorph). Whilst he was on the ward it was like filling in a five page form for a paracetamol !! Even when he was home, when the nurses came at 1:00am to give him morphine from a locked box it took around 15 - 20 minutes for them to go through procedures. They were as frustrated as I was sitting for 3 days 24/7 with him whilst he died. (We soon broke open the box!!) - He died 3 days later -- the days were pain-full but the last hours mercifully were pain free - We made sure of that. DO DO DO Get some skills here. I am starting a 3 day St Johns course as a starter on Wednesday this week and am looking at wilderness medics course later this year. I'll post some oinks to books and kit later. X

The NHS and WELFARE state as planned by LABOUR in 1948
WORKERS pay tax and NI into a fund, in return those tax paying workers get pensions and free health care. That was the theory. The reality The workers who pay in the most get back nothing or the least, and those who pay in little or nothing get the most in pension and benefit payouts and priority in the health care. Ed Balls is on TV as I type saying those who worked the hardest and paid the most contributions will see their benefits cut, and those who have done bugger all for 60 years will get the most. Do you want to rely on the state for your pension and healthcare ?????

Anything run by a Government is a inefficient and careless system, caring nothing for the lives it ruins.

Never mind the CAUSAL Factors that is something we dont have control over, BUT making ourselves better skilled and equipped in matters trauma medical IS something we can do. Whilst the sheeple demand somebody else should do something we must isolate ourselves as much as possible from the dying swan of the NHS.

the welfare state worked pretty well right up until the 90s, then NEW Labour got in in 1997 and started buggering around with the system so that all the immigrants they went actively looking for,(cos they had lost the votes of the working British people,) could have INSTANT access to benefits from day one without actually paying ONE PENNY into the system.
Some people that prefer to be alone arent anti-social they just have no time for drama, stupidity and false people.

I think we need a shift in mindset towards preventative medicine, especially with regards to the modern obesity epidemic, and all the other "civilized" diseases. How is this relevant to prepping? Wouldn't it be easier to stock up on disinfectant, dental hygiene supplies and know how to clean and suture a wound, rather than rely on antibiotics, pliers and whisky, and amputation? (not all at the same time hopefully lol)
Woe to those who add house to house and join field to field, Until there is no more room, So that you have to live alone in the midst of the land!
