Paintball marker for home security

Has anyone considered using a paintball marker/ paintball gun as a safe form of home security?
They can shoot 20-30 rounds per second at 300fps and anyone can own one.
No one in there right mind would run at someone shooting that many paintballs at them.
The best thing is that your not actually going to fatally injure anyone so after things calm down after the SHTF you wouldnt be going to prison or worse.

Iv always thought that after things calm down local groups would start enforcing there own type of punishment on to people who seemed to step over them mark defending themselves.

Even now the laws have changed regarding self defense,
Burglars that are more than half way up your stair case are classed as a real threat now, Where as before they were a victim if you defended yourself and your family.

There are also plenty of different types of paintballs on ebay.
Iv seen solid nylon, soild rubber, glass balls coated in rubber, You can even get hollow paintball shell that you fill yourself.
Not that all of them would be classed as legal for use in the UK.

As far as im aware anything other than a normal paintball shot out of a paintball marker is classed as breaking the law.

The UK riot police have been issued fn303 markers manufactured by RAP4 that work at about 400fps and shoot weighted paintballs for crowd control.

I've also considered this too, markers are generally cheap and some come in 'mil-sim' formats with pictinny rails and what not, you wouldn't do as much potential damage as say an air rifle or crossbow, but at least it would get a potential assailant out of your house without the need for a bit of CQB !

NR junior does pain balling and has his own gun and kit, last year he came home covered in bruises because some arsehole had apparently been keeping his stock of paintballs in a fridge or freezer so they were almost solid.

Definately unsporting and immature, but a loaded mag of cold paintbells kept in the fridge may be avantagous ?

Iv been told old paintballs go hard as well,
Hence the reason they like to sell you the fresh balls when you get there.
Thats another reason outdoor paintball is not so popular during the winter months.
I see it as a way off distancing yourself from danger.
Its none lethal self defense.
If you can keep someone at 20 or 30 meters or more the chances are they will go somewhere else.
Its better than a sharp pointy stick anyway.

Even with a fresh paintball aimed at the face of someone coming through the front door will distract for a few seconds. enough time to pick up your pointy thing and do what is necessary.

Some are close to the size but they done seal enough to be used.
Iv seen Marbles costed in a thin rubber coating for sale on the net.
In South Africa they use nylon ball which will break through a car windscreen at 300fps.

Wound nylon balls are the way forward. Matey used to put them out his Bob Long Special, through pallets.

But, a leather jacket and a paintball mask or motorcycle helmet and your home defence is useless. Anyone can have one for a reason - they are toys. Very cool toys, but toys nonetheless. I had a Tiberius Arms T8, a Tippman BT-16 and a speedball marker, and they do sting, but not enough to deter a determined attacker from getting at you.

decent catapult with some strong elastics and using marbles would be effective I think and you can keep it hidden in a coat pocket until you need it.

I like it - repel looters and decorate the hallway in one go.

Those semi-auto markers are cool though, I can't see many burglars trying to walk into a faceful of paintballs.
