National Service
As an ex-Military man, there has been one question in my mind that has been puzzling me for a while,.. why when America was building up its forces and doing strange things with its supplies, was one of its main allies the UK scaling down its armed forces to what many of us think are dangerous levels,... while the world wide threats appear to be getting greater.

In digging into the question, I may have found the answer, it could be that the UK is planning to have a far bigger army than before

On the 24th of June this year, a Private members bill was put before the house entitled the `National Service Bill 2013-2014`,... it cleared that first hurdle without a debate,.. [ as I understand do most private bills ]

The second reading is planned surprisingly soon on the 6th of September,... less than two weeks from now,... where it will probably be debated and we may hear about it on the news,... there are then quiet a few more hurdles to go through before it become law,... but the fact that it has been put forward in the first place has got to be of interest to us

Only twice before has National Service come about, once in 1916 for WW1 when men from the age of 18-41 were called up, and in 1939 when men of 20-22 were called up.

If this does come about,..and to me it is the only explanation as to why we are scaling back our forces so much,..and lets say men [ and maybe women] of say 18- 25 years old were called up to serve say 2 or 3 years in the army, how would that effect your prepping

Do you have young people approaching that age?, is there people in your group of that age?, how would it effect your Bugging out?,... what if your son or daughter was ordered to round up people and confiscate people food?

I guess that it would effect all British people so what of the `British Muslims, Seiks or Hindus, would they go, or would they refuse on mass, and how would the UK deal with that???????

I am not going to put a link up here for fear of it turning into a news thread, its easy to find now you know what to look for

RE: National Service
I know there was this thing where they were going to rely on the TA more to bolster numbers in an emergency but this conscription/national service is a whole new ball game, and very sneaky not announcing it.

RE: National Service
yeah, that's what their calling it but anyone not in employment, training or school of the right age group will be called up, that's just conscription by another name isn't it? its not like they'll have a choice in the matter.

yep, its a different breed these days than when I was a kid, society has moved on and not for the better, still at least most of them wont survive WTSHTF which is a blessing in disguise for the rest of us(and I don't mean just the "yuffs" either!).

RE: National Service
I came across this last night and found it myself on the parliament website and found that they havent released any of the details for the bill and have said it will be released just before the second reading date which means no one can find out exactly what they are planning to release it.

All young people who are entering year 11 (the gcse year) this september are to be the first year that have to stay in some kind of educational facility until the age of 18 so i would imagine that if it does come to conscription then they are seeing something coming that they are not telling any one about.

To be honest i have considered advising my 15 yr old to join but but i havent for 3 reasons, 1, i dont no if he would be best suited to it, 2, our country doesnt deserve to ask for our kids lives and 3, when something does happen, i dont want him really far away which he would be if this went through

And can i just ask, dont the turks have to go through national service?

RE: National Service
Makes sense now...slashing the regular army..then backfilling it with young kids via the TA...! cheap labour IMO, saving millions and the rest in wages...."boosting our coffers" as those government wankers would say, there will always be wars (for oil ) another Iraq war....we will deffo be "dragged" into Syria.....that could go on for years....who knows how Egypt will go ? they need that almost free fresh meat intake......theres a huge war brewing for years in the far east.OUR Government has agendas that need executing....they need troops...I mean a lot of kids are all hooked on that call of duty bollocks...theyd love a real gun ....most parents including me will be against the draft (if that's what it is?) don't expect to hear much on the TV ..until that prick Cameron mentions it .....Brussels and all those interfering MFs will probably rubber stamp it cos it is a human rights issue.....stealing our kids in the name of ultimate power and greed.......lets not forget oil !! an angry RW.
