Point bank to the skull and it still did not kill him??
Now what was your point again?

Every person should view freedom of speech as an essential right. Without it you can not tell who the idiots are.
they mostly are and you just highlighted the fact with this article...the guy was lying on the floor unconcious and point blank it failed to deliver a lethal strike!
if you have someone prostrate and unconcious like that you'd be better of pinching there nose and ubstructing the airway simultaneously...don't shoot him with a crossbow pistol lol

Ranged weapons in a "civilian" urban setting, going by historical and contemporary accounts is often at a range of only 3 to 5 metres. Expecting to be able to reload or for others in your group to have a clear shot and then again expecting to have time to pick up and shoot compound bows in that same setting is a bit over optimistic! The big elephant in the room is that by the very act of using a pistol crossbow in this type of setting is giving away a time factor advantage to your opponent. You are shooting a mediocre weapon at best and are using valuable action time to do so. A better defence action or weapon system would be a much greater advantage and would not be wasting time during those critical seconds that count. If a pistol crossbow is your only weapon to hand and so thereby you justify its use, then that is "ppp"...

River,
I think if you read the articleproperly you will fin he had the crap beaten out of him which 'stpped' him. The crossbow was then fired at a stationary target at close range. Now I looked at the picture and it seemed to me to be a larger than normal pistol crossbow. Plus it says it was a 8 inch bolt which is larger than normalas well. Yet despite all that it didn't kill him. So what would it do under less than optimum conditions?

its about probabilities...a gun probably will and an xbow pistol probably won't and then there's the follow up shot available to most guns thats not available to the xbow pistol
