Ref your thread elsewhere, do a google for Caltrops Smile Easy made and very effective, I've seen em made from bits of barbed wire.

If I recall correctly the IRA used to use them made from 6" nails??

They are the land mine of ancient times, used for area denial and funneling attacking forces into kill zones...still have there uses today, floor boards with nail knocked through are a good improvisation that will slow people up in the dark or close country.
Nothing is fool proof for a sufficiently talented fool!!!!
