Wet and Cold (an awesome member from a while back) use to love his Mora knives! He recommended them all the time.

RE: Cheap Blades
I caught the Mora Clippers on sale for $6 about ten years back and bought 12 of them for the stores. (yes we have been dealing with the imminent crash of civilization and return to the dark ages since the 1950s)

I really do not care for these "bushcraft" knives and prefer other styles, although they will do in a pinch. I keep them around for equipping folks that would show up at the retreat with no knife, like the DILs, and for the grandkids as they might reach knife needing age.

RE: Cheap Blades
Mora and Hulfators do some fine knives. I'm not a fan of the rat tail tang, but they're so cheap it's almost irrelevant. Handy back up knife. You won't be too upset when you misplace it either. I bought 6 of the Woodlore anniversary moras, gave 2 away, used one and found the others had all pitted and rusted in their sheathes. I always give my knives a covering of oil before storage too.

I tend to spend more money on knives now, you get what you pay for.

RE: Cheap Blades
Whenever my friend Greg went hunting in Africa, back in the day, he always took a dozen ordinary 8" Case butcher knives from the hardware store. If you give a native an expensive knife, he will sell it for khat. But a cheap, sturdy blade which can be sharpened on a rock or piece of broken glass will be treasured and appreciated.
