I can't figure out if he mean's all there filter candles or just the black ones?

Big Berky and British Berkfield are different companies, about ten years ago Big Berky sold a batch of black filter candles that were defective. IIRC they separated or fractured where they were bonded to the threaded seat. There was hell to pay in the US, but it did not affect and was not associated with British Berkfield water filters.
