do you store tools .
do you store tools ....?
why if the shtf would not most homes have , knives , tools , of some sort and factorts and farms have bigger better tools.
you only have to go to a car boot or antique fair to see loads of old well made tools still going strong.
is storing tools worth the effort ...?

RE: do you store tools .
we're going to need general tools like hammers and screwdrivers for a start, a small basic tool box to begin with, then we may need woodworking tools like chisels, axe's, hatchets, saws, maybe a basic plane and a hand drill and stuff like spanners and socket sets, an assortment of various size nails, screws and nuts and bolts , several sets of drill bits, files, pliers and tin snips, the list goes on and on.

Yes
and
Yes
Like BP's says, we need to be able make, fix and repair things.
I already try and do all my own DIY/property repairs and I also have all the tools I need to do 'most' basic maintenance/repairs on my Land Rover.

RE: do you store tools .
true bp , and you could spend a small fortune on them or go out and scavenge them if remember if tshtf .
most homes have a general tool kit , enough to get by like me , why spend you preps cash on something that will be easy to get post event.

Yes we store some tools.
I get where you are coming from, there will be plenty of tools available for scavenging if things went truly TU
We are building a store of specialist stuff like good axes, scythes, scythe blade repairers and sharpeners, two man logging saws, etc. We are also learning how to use these low tech tools as they are not much use without a degree of skill.

because I believe in having the stuff ready now and not just HOPING that I will find some just lying about. that's the point of having preps, isn't it.

RE: do you store tools .
and if someone has the same idea and get there before you do, your stuffed. its better to plan on having the stuff up front than expecting to scavenge it after the event, anything I scavenge will be EXTRA to what I already have and I wont be lost if I don't find any.
still if that's your plan A good luck with that.
