London More Dangerous Than NYC?

I once got talking to a New York girl in a London pub about 10 years ago, and even then she said she felt more nervous in London than New York. The reason she gave was that New York has a grid system so if one starts getting into a run down area you just turn around and head for the lower street numbers, whereas London roads are winding and good areas are often back to back with bad areas. Having also visited New York myself I agreed with her.

Scotland too cold and not very fertile land, Wales though .....
