OK here is where our thought processes diverge.

If it is not safe to walk down the street for fear of a drive-by shooter or a hit and run assassin the $#!t has already hit the fan!

Just because one can hide in their own neighborhood, buy a can of beans, and turn on the lights does not mean things are OK!

New York is the wrong place to compare. These numbers, one dead every two or three days, remind me of the casualty figures during the Iraq War.
