One of my best pals was a nuclear physicist and his team set up all our nuke stations. These guys knew their stuff as it was not all computer rubbish in those days - pure physics and lots of maths.

As for nukes - the UK does not have access to them as we do not have our own platform. My grandfather was a rocket scientist on Blue Streak but they could not nail down the guidance and the programme was scrapped. If they'd hung on for a few decades I'd have nailed it but they gave up.
Anyway UK has to go via UN to get launch code for anything spicy. It wouldn't stop us from being a target but why hit a fly with a nuke when a newspaper would do?
UK and everything in it could be obliterated by thermobaric weapons and with no nasty glow in the dark surprise for those wanting to move straight in.
And that is the old school shizzel, let's not get started on ranged frequency weapons.
