about 12 months ago our gen broke down , we could not get anyone out to fix it,for 4 days after i had attempted to fix it myself for about 8 hours ! it ended up it was beyond repair . we spent the 4 days using a wood burning stove to cook , wind up and oil lanterns for light and a wind up radio for entertainment , to be honest it was quite fun and a great test , would i risk light if everyones power had gone out ? yep as long as the windows were blacked out
