Waxing Cotton

RE: Waxing Cotton
Sorry to add to an old thread, but only recently joined.

Ventile clothing is, IIRC, not designed to be waxed. It relies for its waterproofing on a very close weave. As the fibres get wet, they swell up, closing the very small gaps between them.

As far as wax reproofing is concerned, I have a can of Grangers Wax Spray for doing my Barbour jacket. It's an aerosol and sooo much easier and quicker (and more thorough) than applying solid wax from a tin. Just put the jacket on a hanger, hang it up outside and spray all over, paying particular attention to seams.
Find a resilient place and way to live, then sit back and watch a momentous period in history unfold.
