I think it depends on the sizes of fish you're hoping to catch. If you're after 20lb fish, you'll need a 25lb line.
What fish are in your area, and what is their pull strength? If you have a barbell, you're going to need a line that's at least 50% stronger than the weight of the fish. Barbell fight like a bugger!!!
