My point is that if I was in Canada I could vanish into endless forest and get away with it.Scotland has lost 98% of its natural forest.Without natural forest you lack building materials, concealment, firewood, shelter, diverse edible plants, soil fertility for cultivation.
Can you honestly tell me I wouldn't have gamekeepers all over me the first time I light a fire?As I said though,I'd jump at the chance of a legit hut or something up there.

Of course we are only talking survival living,.....the Highlands are clearly not as big as Canada I agree,.. but I still maintain that you could live off the grid in the high country without being seen if you know how to., and I can honestly say that if you knew what you are doing then a gamekeeper would be lucky to find you,... a game keeper is just a man who knows the hills and takes people shooting,..he is not a superman

I have wild camped in that kind of country with my three dog for two weeks at a time, many times, and never seen so much as a man in the distance,...so I am confident in what I am saying
Up to a point I agree with both you and BDG.If you're prepared to travel light and live spartanly, then yes you can evade custodians such as keepers,Forestry Commision jobsworths. The problems start once you try to establish a permanent, liveable base.Once you start investing that kind of energy and accumulating gear..What happens when that seldom seen gamekeeper/forestry goon is no longer a figure in the far distance, but is suddenly kicking down the door of the cabin you've sweated blood building?99.9% of the people on this site are fantacists who haven't really given serious consideration to the sheer precariousness of living in illegal structures on private land(which all of the UK is).Yes,post SHTF the normal rules won't apply, but in that case how do you construct a pre SHTF bug-out structure?Or do you wait until it's post-event(s) which surely defeats the object of prepping?
Suburban neighbours= stranger- danger.
