i'd be inclined to tell him to stuff his job and take the money, if he's that much of an arsehole and you stay on he'll find some way of shafting you for your redundancy money, so i'd take the money and run.
Some people that prefer to be alone arent anti-social they just have no time for drama, stupidity and false people.
