Thanks SP, your findings match my own I used to breed Carp, Koi and Goldfish and found that if left outdoors over winter they really needed a pond set at least 5 ft deep into the ground for the fish to survive it stopped the fish from suffering tissue damage, I ended keeping mine in insulated water tanks in the garage.
