But its the bit that comes after the war that is the hardest to live through.

I've got a few thoughts on that but I'll keep this on-topic, in many cases it's a high price to pay for a skillset but if the world does go to sh1t there will be a very high % of veterans surviving it, they've all done survival courses, they know how to hide and how to acquire resources, they have a cool head in a crisis and they just won't quit.
