The problem is that insulin has a stable shelf life.

The only thing I can think of is to find a way to manufacture insulin yourself. I'm pretty sure they use ecoli bacteria. But creating your own supply is the best I can think of.

REALLY careful diet, probably won't be enough. Especially with the increased physical activity during a SHTF scenario.

I know ways to get LOADS of insulin. But it is illegal. Insulin is the most anabolic hormone the body produces. If you found someone that sold steroids, you could get insulin off them. But that is not a recommendation as you cannot guarantee the quality and purity of what they would provide.

Stock up from your local doctor. Tell them you are going over to Australia, or doing a trek in the Amazon for 4 months. That's what I'm planning to do to get anti-biotics haha.
