Soggy jeans not only take forever to dry but they pull the heat out of your legs by evaporation and cause ligament and tendon pain, and wet denim will rub the insides of your legs and your crotch red raw in no time at all especially if its cold as well as wet.

Your basic survival gear , Knife, Compass, map, flashlight, lighter, watch, shades, surv tin if carried, multi tool, bandana, gloves, paracord etc should be carried about your person and not in a bag, thats why cargos areo popular as well as often being UV treated, Water reisistant, rip stop cloth, quick drying etc.

look at it from this angle you bug out, or get stranded or are out someplace and TSHTF and you lose or cannot access your BOB or EDC bag, the gear you have in your pockets is now all you have to survive with, so if its essential it goes in your pockets on your person.
