What do you do, first?

Pop, the lights go off, it's dark anyway, you don't know what's going on. Turns out that your phone is able to turn on, but you can't get any reception.

It looks like there is a financial collapse that caused the power outage. Everything with batteries works fine. However....what do you do first?

I've been getting into comms a lot recently, learning as much as I can, and annoying the hell out of LS with my daily bombardment of questions. So I'm close to thinking along the lines of check comms and see what's going on elsewhere.

With that in mind, I'm also quite into the idea of popping round to the neighbours and seeing how they are and what's going on with them. There's always the option to barricade the road with my car, but some people may be trying to leave the area or move in.

But the problem is, it could just be a power-cut during a financial collapse. Therefore it could be perfectly 'innocent' and not the final straw that broke it.

Do you check batteries first? Get torches up and working? Check on neighbours? Get weapons? Try comms? or what?

Ideas, and explanations please.

It's cool to say you'll do something, but why would you do it is more important!

p.s. we are not including popping champagne or something similar to celebrate TEOTWAWKI. Survival related answers only.

The more I think on this, the more ideas come to mind.

Fill the bath, hoping the taps are still working? Fill buckets for as much as possible? But out and wait for the madness to subside?
