I have turned to my .38 as a more powerful replacement for my .22 rim-fires during our current ammo shortage here in the U.S. .22 ammo is still very scarce, but .38 has been available when no other rounds could be found. When it is available it has jumped to ten cents (us) a shot, which is a jump from 3 cents a shot a year ago.

I have never been a big .22 fan and prefer the low powered center-fires over .22 when I can use them. I can reload the .38 cartridges indefinitely (I once got 37 reloads from a single set of brass during a test) The .38 is much more versatile than the .22.

Not being restricted by a limit on ammo possession I keep a good supply of .38 on hand.
