Although no pun was intended, it still made me laugh.

Basically, imagine you're not on a road or obvious path. If you are travelling in a certain direction and end up thinking you're lost, the route back the way you came will look very different from the path you took. So, by turning around now and again, it gets you more familiar with the route back to where you were.

Does that make more sense?
