Air Rifle Calibre Advice

Not had an air rifle for the last few years, so compatibility is not an issue, I'm starting again with a clean slate but yes the standardisation issue is a good point for looking forward.......

Previously always had .22 rifles and have never owned a .177 (or a .20 for that matter), when I have used a .177, I always find them fiddly to load, so is the consensus to stick with the .22??
