Will tech really die?

Don't worry mate. I've got plenty of understanding of the way rabbits supplement a diet and should not constitute the full thing. I think everyone that comes to the forum learns that within the first few weeks.

Personally, I'm more than happy living without tech. But I'm not so sure things will become totally destitute before we're rebuilt. Even if it takes 50 years to rebuild.

Within the first year, that'll be the die off everyone speaks about. Then there will be less competition for goods and abandoned stuff. It's the abandoned stuff that can very easily be up-cycled into power generators and the alike. A BaoFeng radio, solar panel, and RPi can be used to send SSTV great distances.

The biggest concern would be hospitals and the alike being unable to support people. The rest is pretty simple to do. Really, all the tech you'd need would be fridge/freezer and lights. Then you'd have a 'comfortable' situation. With rudimentary tools, you can build up a reasonable little workshop to start building things. Think of a furnace and billows, then you can be reshaping metal. A welder can run off a car battery. Suddenly you have a hell of a lot of potential going on. I don't mean tech as in computers and the alike, but storing components for them would be wise. Low power consumption, high information benefit.

LED lightbulbs last many years, solar lasts many years, alternators get damaged from the on/off part, more than when just running. As long as the water cycle doesn't stop, anyone near a stream can enjoy a constant flow of electricity, providing they have a brain and a couple of small tools.
