The most dangerous person you will ever meet is the one who has nothing to lose. Those persons who aren’t prepared and have relied on others to furnish their needs will ultimately suffer the most in a crisis. They will also become the most dangerous. Many will suffer from the effects of the “entitlement mentality†that has become ingrained in so much of our society. They will feel entitled to what you have because that is a "normal" part of their lifestyle. They will ultimately seek to regain what they have lost or maintain what little they have remaining by any means possible, even if it is at the expense of you or your family.
This is one of the main reasons that operational security for preppers is so important. If there were more people properly prepared for a crisis and there was less of the “entitlement mentality†in our society, this might not be the case. Quite often the exact opposite is going to be true because so very few persons are properly prepared to handle a crisis without being forced to resort to desperate measures and the odds of the government being able to handle the "overload" is not very likely (Can you say Katrina?).
Desperate people will be seeking solutions to their problems and you may not want them to see you as that solution.

I certainly hope we will, I sure could use a vacation from this silly shit."
