The easiest way to start is simply buy more of what you buy now, just double up on your shopping and put some away. If you shop weekly then the next week pick up what you bought as extra and use that but still do the weekly shopping, again buying double if you can afford it. If not buy extra of your core foodstuffs and repeat. Your stores will soon grow.

My priority is food, water, medicines, hygiene, and then tools. But don't do all food and no water, spread it around a bit.
