The dyamics of pandemics

RE: The dyamics of pandemics
But what is a "pandemic"?

Are you working with infection rate, survivability rate or just something that scares the crap out of you?

The plague of the middle ages had a 60% mortality rate.

The Spanish flu of 1918, only 3%.

Large numbers of sick do not necessarily mean large numbers of dead. And in many cases once one survives the initial illness they are immune.

What I see in today's reports are fear mongering created on 30 deaths out of a population of millions. A situation where more people are choking on chicken bones than dying from the latest "pandemic".

Meanwhile 1 out of 5 persons in the modern world is dying from self indulgent face stuffing and lack of exercise leading to diabetes and heart disease!

That is a higher mortality rate then smallpox or anthrax.
