RE: TYRES
Do a bit of looking online and you will suss it out. Go for Winter tyres. These will be specifically designed more for what you want and will still perform well on the occasional motorway jaunt. Black circles is a good online site to start getting an idea/comparison between brands. They also have some good offers on premium tyres at mid range prices. Go for specifically "winter tyres". TL.

(All terrain is really for unmade tracks, minor offroading and water/mud on surfaces. They will not grip as well on normal tarmac. If this is what suits, then good but you must always drive the vehicle with the tyres capabilities in mind. Town & Country are approx half way between all terrain & winter tyres. I have not seen any for a while.
Some winter tyres are more specific for winter and some are a winter/summer mix, approx 60/40 or anywhere similar. Just to reiterate an original point - a lot of tyres sold as performing well in the advertising are aimed at performance cars, mainly as summer tyres with maybe a 30% dedication to winter capability..) regards, TL.
