TH without seeing your bows or what you are doing it's hard to say whats going wrong. I presume the different bows will have different draws, so you will be at sorts at first. My instructors tell me to grip the bow as loose as possible with your hand in twisted slightly so you are not locking your elbow and thus keeping it away from the string.

Best advice is to get someone to video you shooting so you can see your own technique. It can be quite a surprise.
