Tree Identification

Just got back from my morning run, and was frustrated that I knew a plant but just could put a name to it. It was doing my head in. Like when you know a conker tree isn't called a conker tree. But then you look it up and realise it's a horse-chestnut. Same as that situation but with a Sycamore. I couldn't remember the name of it for the life of me. What's the point of this story?
