Hi BoB,

Regrettably I did not have time to participate in the Backpackers radio competition this month, but hope to do so on June 15th.

How much activity was there on FM? Are there sufficient stations for novice owners UV5R type radios to have a good chance of hearing something?

Broadly what frequencies were the FM transmissions worked?

Scythe, if you are reading this, most competitors on this radio event use SSB ( Single Side Band) transmissions, although the rules allow use of FM ( Frequency Moduation) mode too. UV5r /UV3r radios are only capable of FM mode.
