Billhooks are useful, but the "weight to useful" ratio is not good. For bug out I would choose a small hatchet any day. I have a Gransfors hatchet, it takes an edge you could shave with, the convex edge shape means it can double as a knife for butchery, you'd struggle to do that with a billhook.
