Just a few points I picked up on.

One lady whose home has been flooded before many times reported that this time she did not get chance to respond to move her possessions, the flood water rose from 3 inches to 3 feet inside her home in 15 minutes.

After the floods of 2005 & 2009 the Councils and governments spent millions of pounds in upgrading flood defences in Cumbria, many of them simply failed as the water just rose above them OR rose faster than the council could deploy the defences. This was the case across the WHOLE region as many brand new or almost new flood defences failed straight away

People on Sky news were told repeatedly that sand bags would be delivered in large numbers to built temp barriers, NONE were delivered in time.

People needed to be rescued by helicopters, they had to come from wales and Scotland.

Because of over turned trucks and land slides many people were diverted from A class roads onto minor roads in an effort to get them round the closures, unfortunately many were directed into flooded roads and got stranded.

In the general South Lakes area even after many warnings on the media loads of people went out socialising at night in places like Preston then found themselves with no method of getting home dressed only in party clothes and had to spend the night in their cars.

Power off to 55,000 in the Morecombe Lancaster area, A battle is under way to stop flood water in devastated Carlisle from knocking out a vulnerable power station.

Rescue boats and crews are being sent from as far away as Kent to help in the rescues.

Water rose fast enough to lift cast iron manhole covers completely off thus making wading exceedingly dangerous.

And looking at the footage there is still plenty of Audi and BMW drivers who think their cars can swim.
