Gas flues and fine snow

Had to clear snow that drifted over the gas flue exhaust this morning (over the old cottage) this fine dry snow had built up around over night resulting in boiler shut down,with high gusting winds and resulting drifting it might be a good idea to leave your heating on low at night/day ....go have a check folks .
