.22 LR Penetration Tests on Youtube

Oh God not again!

I fight and I fight against the over dependence and over expectations of the .22lr and then these things pop up.

Each of those You-tube videos far surpass any test I have seen reported by any of the manufacturers of those rounds.

In fact, most of those videos surpass what a hot loaded 9mm will do when tested by the FBI.

And that 700 yard shot??? Was it really 700 yards? and did anyone note that the rifle had scope mounts an inch higher in front that at the rear and they still had to shoot down a 45% slope to compensate for the fact that a .22lr bullet will not actually travel more than about 300 yards on flat ground?

I have personally bounced .22r rounds off car windshields without penetration. I have also bounced 9mm rounds off vehicle windscreens without penetration. And I must say that those are the most powerful .22lr rounds I have ever seen and I have never achieved some of those feats in my 60 years of shooting the .22. Yes, I have used the same brand with much different results. have some in the cabinet rght now and I guarentee they wil not perform as show n those videos.

Use what you wish, but I turned away from the .22lr years ago when the rounds from every maker I tried failed dismally on anything I shot that was bigger than a bunny.
