Surely if the impact would cause a 1km wide crater it would kick out more than 150db?? the sound system in my Volvo put out more punch than that.
Anything that'll make a hole that wide in the earth would (possibly) effect global temperatures. Not by much. So yeah, let's hope for Luton, or some other shit hole (that's not too close to my home, or anyone on here)

interesting stuff if something that sized hit it could cause a fair bit of damage but as long as it doesn't land in your back yard it wouldn't be a TEOTWAWKI event longterm

Got the 150db thing from the email from my friend- they argued that as a "mostly snowball, that it would just be a bang and shockwave (causing a crater) rather than a lump hitting lump event". (dumbed it down for me)
