Good grief, Charles. Interesting article, but the leftward tilt in the title gives the media bias away.
If at first you don't secede, try, try again!

That was exactly the intent, to provide a "head's up" to the propaganda excrement storm now brewing.

US policy has been to absorb a first strike, evaluate where it came from and then to respond proportionately.

Given the percentage of leftist Democrat voters in Hawaii and the West Coast I cannot see Trump deviating from that.

After all, why should be pass up an opportunity to substantially reduce the numbers of Democrat voters?

Then if the US mainland gets hit, he will be blamed for not striking first. It's a no-win scenario...

Best course is to turn South Korea into an island and then announce the site of the new Trump Ocean Front Resort and Golf Complex to be built on the site of the former Joint Security Area (Panmunjom)...

In case anyone here might be unaware, The Washington Post is owned by Jeff Bezos, of Amazon.com, who purchased the newspaper for US$250 million cash, completing the transaction on October 1, 2013, after announcing the planned acquisition on August 5, 2013. The newspaper is currently owned by Nash Holdings LLC, a holding company created for the acquisition and controlled by Bezos. The paper has ALWAYS been leftist, a mouthpiece for the Democrat party, and is popularly referred to among DC insiders as "The Washington Field Office of Pravda"

IMHO the theory that China will find a way to influence reign the DPRK to behave is beginning to prove itself.

China has said that they will remain neutral in a U.S. vs. N. Korea conflict unless the U.S. strikes first. This is a wise and typical Asian-mindset move. The DPRK leadership has been put on notice that if they start something stupid, that they'll be on their own. Big brother won't step in to save them.

DPRK is facing not only the U.S. and S. Korea, but also Japan. A first-strike against any of the three will result in certain destruction, even with a conventional response.

China wins because the status quo is maintained and DPRK remains a buffer between China and South Korea.
The U.S. wins because N. Korea backs down and war doesn't happen, at least for now.
S. Korea wins, because millions of their civilians survive, for now.
Japan wins, because their status as a military ally that can be depended upon is elevated.

The China statement was the only way it could go.

If NK attacked there was no way that the US was not going to respond and China would get caught up in that. Their statement told their little brothers that they can only protect him so much and if he stepped out of line there was little they were prepared to do.

It is a stalemate so far but will only really be resolved when that nutter in NK pops off and someone sensible gets to power and I don't see anyone sensible in the queue atm.

You need someone sensible in power in the USA too. The general opinion of Trump outside of the US is that he's a dangerous imbecile. Do our American members have any idea how much credibility the USA has lost since electing him? I've several good American friends living in the States, guess what, they don't like him either.

Carry on CH.

I didn't have much faith in Clinton but at least she had a lot political office experience and nobody here expected her to loose. That said, no sensible person expected the UK to vote leave the EU.

Leaving the EU will break the UK IMHO.
