survival:the ultimate form of resistance.

RE: survival:the ultimate form of resistance.
You fellows have gone right back into "flee to the countryside" mode just as if you had learned nothing from the last 18 months of restrictions!

You do not even have travel restrictions in GB fully lifted! Remember Green, Yellow and Red? Remember all the stores closed? Remember the pubs and restaurants going bankrupt?

SHTF the first thing TPTB will do is declare a fake pandemic or other national emergency and shut down all travel. Anyone on the road can be arrested and the fines are incredible. Stay home! No one goes anywhere!

Sound familiar?

But here we are still talking about bug outs, the "golden horde" and all the other theories that were made redundant in the past 18 months.

Over here people that owned "second homes" in rural areas were not allowed access to their own properties to flee the urban areas and the restrictions. People on this forum discussed relatives and friends that were fined horrible penalties for being caught on the roads.

Best argument ever for retiring outside the moderate damage radius from major cities, having a year's worth of food storage, an acre in cultivation, some free range chickens and guinea fowl, perhaps a couple milk goats and a deer rifle with 250 Metre zero and valid application for crop damage culling oermits. 40 acres of agricultural zoning enables four out of normal hunting season culls and during the regular hunting season I can shoot two with archery, two with black powder muzzleoader and another two with modern firearm.

I don't think many city folk are going to flee to the countryside! They would miss their Costa coffee and the fresh air would probably kill them. Either that or a bugphobia would kick in as soon as something crawled across their feet.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

modern city folk have city attitudes, they know little or nothing about the countryside and nature and even less about agriculture, this is a country where few walk more than 100 yards away from their vehicles and when they do they get lost or into difficulties very quickly.
we also have an obesity and diabetic crisis in this country, mostly caused by too much take away food and lack of exercise.

BP, diabetes is not a behavior or food disorder, it is a genetic disorder. Purging the entire UK of all sugar and/or changing eating habits will not stop a single case of diabetes.

You have more diabetes in your society for two reasons;

1. medical science is keeping type 1 diabetics alive longer and allowing them to reproduce more effectively. Every one of those pitiful obese and diabetic children the media shows you as part of their "anti-fast food campaign" has a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle that is also diabetic. It is a genetic disease. They did not catch it from a Big Mac.

2. Medical science has increased the life span and more people are living long enough for their livers to degenerate and develop type 2 diabetes. It is part of the natural aging process and is more evident due to more people reaching their senior years. Type 2 was not a real issue when life expectancy was 50. Half the population over age 60 is type 2 diabetic, many of them do not even know it.

Obesity is also not food related except in that people eat too much of it. Blaming the food is giving the food credit for human behavior. It is not cocaine or heroin. All you have to do is plot out a healthy diet and stop eating when you have reached you calorie limits.

Note that I did say "healthy diet". Beans, mash, bread and beer might be vegan but they are not on the lists of low calorie foods.

I do blame the governments for a big part of the obesity problem though. About 40 years ago they stopped teaching the "square meal" concept. (meat, veg and fruit) and changed to a carb based diet recommendation, the "food pyramid". That placed carb based foods as the primary food source and promoted a high calorie food intake as the world diet at the expense of meat and green veg. Do note that potatoes, pasta, rice, all cereal grains and most root crops are not "green veg".

While it does not cause diabetes it does feed it. That is part of the reason for the high count of type 2 diabetes and the trend toward obesity at the present time. The "normal diet" of the western societies is now carb based and poison to a diabetic, and promote obesity. While people are living longer the foods the government recommends they eat bring out the worst of their problems.

The carbs turn to sugars rapidly and that excess sugar is stored as fat.
The real reason you see so many out of control obese chaps running about. As we age we simply can not burn off as many calories as we once did. That is a behavior issue, not the fault of the food.

MB has nailed it - the modern couch potato lifestyle... Back when people mostly walked or rode bicycles, did hard physical work for a living, and the Ministry of Food enforced rationing into the postwar era due to scarcity there were no problems with obesity. Cheap, highly processed, industrially mass produced junk food, labor-saving machines, automobile and automation are to blame.

Obesity in this country is very much a product of how much and what people are eating, some of the portion sizes are just crazy, and diabetes is linked in a lot of cases to weight, I think diabetes type 2 is such, type 1 is probably inherited like has been said.
a diet of mostly processed food is not good for anyone, it is also habit forming.

We have discussed this before and I still believe most people will stay in their homes until it is too late. You either have to keep your head down and ride it out or get to a bug out location when you can. Keeping your head down requires you to be living somewhere you can and have the right preps.

British people dont evacuate, in an emergency they are told to go indoors, shut the windows and stay put, and I think that is how they will behave in SHTF, there will obviously be some rioting and looting when some realise the seriousness of their situation but not until the lights go off by which time it will be too late for them to do much but sit tight and hope.

That’s why we need to keep ahead of the news from every source, local national and foreign, to be aware of any situation and act accordingly.
