Poll: If Chosen as our preferred frequency, would you support CB 27/81?
Without live testing, any investment we make as individuals in comms equipment will be somewhat speculative.
It is in our mutual interest to get stations operational across the country straight away, ahead a SHTF event, and to start user testing that equipment in order that we have knowledge, skills, protocols and equipment in place to re-establish communications in a post SHTF world
Following discussions re-initiated by NR in recent days on this Forum, and the subsequent article on the main site, we need to get an idea of the number of potential SUK members who are willing to invest in basic CB 27/81 compliant comms equipment, and join in live testing in the coming months?
So, please take a few minutes to post a vote.
Thanks

RE: Poll: Who will invest in CB 27/81 capable equipment
I am sure I am not going to be in range for the best part, but my group needs cb anyway so I am down as a yes.

RE: Poll: Who will invest in CB 27/81 capable equipment
I have no idea what you want me to do but I have ordered the Intel H 520 hand held unit that apparently covers ALL the 27 FM and AM channels, on your instruction I have also ordered the 52 cm Albrecht Rubber Duck aerial that is far more effective than the OE Rubber duck, and I've also added a mag mounted 1.5 meter length Thunderpole Orbitor aerial for the BOV.
When it comes just tell me what you want me to do?

Oh and stop blaiming me for this scheme, it weas your fascinating and educational posts on radio comms that kicked it off, I cant even change a fuse.

I already have an old walkie-talkie lying around somewhere , and from previous experience using it , unless we have a prepper within 2 miles of me I won't be able to contact any of you.
Even with a base station using a half wave antenna ( silver rod - 18ft ) and rg8 coax my best range was something like 5 miles on a good day.
Even when using a burner.
Trying very hard not to be paranoid.....and it aint getting easier.

Just 5 miles with a big antenna like that seems very low. Do you live at the bottom of a cole mine??
I get better range than that with a 1/2 watt handheld on 70cms.
