It seems that a large portion of the public considers preppers to be paranoid I guess from the outside looking in it could look a little like that until TSHTF that is .

Paranoid is just another hijacked word by our PR savvy politicians. It is a line in the sand.
Our politicians surround themselves with tank traps and armed plod whilst pointing the finger at us for putting aside a few extra tins of beans. They cannot afford too many people who are not reliant on them and dividing and conquering is still a very useful tactic. Don't get wound up about it as that brings you to their attention.
