Big dog?
Took Winston (our Rotty) to the vets for his check up. He's 11 months and 5 days old. Stuck him on the digital scales and he weighs 6 stone 10 pounds! Hardly any fat on him, you can see the muscles rippling in his shoulders when he walks. I thought they were going to say he was too skinny, but she said he's the best example of a Rotty they've ever seen Big Grin

So time to get him a backpack and get him out an about carrying a load. Anyone have a dog pack thats really adjustable? As I dont want to have to buy a new one every.time he gets wider! Can you get a camelbak for dogs?

Any other ways to help him pack on the muscle?

Steroids. Haha, I'm kidding.

It's the same thing I say to guys in the gym that are naturally packing on muscle, if what you're doing is working a treat, stick with it.

Adding extra weight to him may cause joint wear when he runs, much faster. It's not going to be caused by the extra muscle, because muscle really doesn't weigh more than fat. Jusy stick to what you're doing.

Have you thought of showing him? If he's that good a dog, show him, then stud him for a wad of cash!

Get a kiddie's backpack, and a belt, so should be adjustable as he gets bigger. Don't get him carrying too much- just his own EDC stuff.

Good for you BM,... I think all dogs should have a job,.. and backpacking is a great thing to have them do, and it saves you carrying stuff too

All you have to remember are two things really, dont have anything chaffing the dogs sides, either straps or items inside,..and have the two bags evenly weighing and not too far back

As Metroyeti said I make my own now, I was fed up buying ones that were not up to the job.....>>>> http://forum.survivaluk.net/showthread.p...light=dogs
