" Tagging" fellow Preppers & Prepettes, Preplings etc

Exclamation  " Tagging" fellow Preppers & Prepettes, Preplings etc
OK, for at least 5 year and up to 7 years I and other members of the survivalist / prepper community have discussed, complained, whinged, sulked, badgered and begged for a simple bog sodding standard method of identifying fellow preppers at shows, events, rendezvous, gatherings, courses and rallies.

And in all that time we have pissed around with all sorts of ideas that fall apart for many a useless reason, and often simply because someone from a different forum suggested it.

Ladies and Gents we are pissing into the wind, every day goes by more government agencies, more mega media companies, more extrewme socialists, more religous nutters campaign for closing down, censoring or closely regulating the WWW, and we piss about trying to outcool each other. Its madness.

Look, please just for 5 bloody seconds stop and think how would you gather information, gossip, skills, news, contacts etc if you got up tomorrow and someone had turned off the web, or forums, or news groups or anything not approved by censors?

All the UK forums and clubs frequently raise the issue of staying in touch with each other if TSHTF for whatever sodding reason, your choice you decide the " what if" but nothing solid or simple ever materialises. Heck even the leading lights in our community DV, Scooby, DD, SD, etc rarely communicate with each other, but then again why should they its their chosen vocation to provide us with priceless forums, but its not their job to make us interact or get on sorting our community.

What I am going to do, (I leave it up to yourselves to choose for yourself what steps if any you take) Is when I attend events like RZs, Gatherings or events like the Bushcraft show or Wilderness Gathering and I want contact with other preppers, I will wear pinned to my daysack just a simple piece of cloth with the following initials on it, in black permenant marker

SUK UKP
BCUK LSG
P2S UKSG

Thats it, simple as that. I will wear a patch that identifys me at that time with a simple bit of cloth pinned to my EDC bag if I seek to contact other preppers.

If you dont want to do the same thats fine, its your choice but until the folks who run all the forums, clubs, groups, chapters etc come up with something else that is simple, workable, cheap etc I'll stick with a scrat end of cloth with the initials of the major UK groups.

Maybe one day someone will come up with a simple, cheap detachable logo that we can all recognise??, who knows, is their the will?

Secondly I intend where possible to attend the Bushcraft show in Kendal and the WG in West Knoyle, each year, as is I believe BP is going to do the WG and the Green Scythe event. So if TSHTF or the net gets turned off and you wish to touch base with other survivalists and preppers at l;east you know you have a chance if you go to one of the events.

Cheers m'dears
NR

That is a great idea.

I think the rag thing will get many questions from non forum users, which will be both an advertisment for each forum and billboard of recognition to other forum users. So it's good for those reasons.

I'll do the same, but probably highlight SUK!!! Maybe sew it on in a different colour (if I ask my girlfriend kindly enough).

I think I'll be putting my name Scythe13 on the bottom or top of the patch.

Also, because I'm working towards building a Bristol group/team, it would be a good idea to sew Bristol into there as well.

So my patch/bag will have this on:

"Scythe13

SUK UKP
BCUK LSG
P2S UKSG

Bristol"

Good thinking NR.

Hi all..
Why don't you use the old Civil Defence Corps badges..
See eBay item numbers 140677667413 & 120839643247

You can get pin badges the same also.
These are both very little money

What I like about the idea - is that these were made obselete in the mid 1950's or 60's when the Corps was disbanded.

They are a UK styled badge with the crown & lion.
I think that the idea of a Civil Defence Corps is not that far removed from ourselves. It is in modern times that we as civilians have taken on the responsibility for our own defence/survival and maybe later to help others & rebuild it. as the government has disbanded this organistaion, we have taken it upon ourselves for our own reasons. I think this makes it very appropriate to commandeer the redundant badge design.
It is not a military unit insignia for us as it relates to Civil defence
The pin badges can easily be worn as desired or removed. they can also be worn hidden under a lapel/collar etc.

The design is not limited to any one group. It is usefully covert with only those preppers who have been educated knowing its application. It is ideal for being able to brush off unwelcome questions from uneducated enquirers.

Also, if after PSHTF, then it may prove a useful negotiation focus when making contact with other survivors, especially if they are wary & mistrusting of strangers & if they get the drop on you. it is not just a simple badge - it is the genuine crested quality official badge. We will not be obligated to give them or anyone else a history lesson of the badge when we first meet them.

There will be no group/organisation loyalty or branding with this - so there is less ID on the individual. Also, I believe you were after a design which could be used nationally. If you start using Letters for Group ID's, then how will you keep up with the ever changing groups, in the past & in the future + many preppers do not access the whole online community so may very well not know the other groups/Letters. Me included. If one desired, then they could wear a badge also with a seperate group basis, but I do not see the point, also this is not good for intelligence reasons.

Anyway - something to ponder. TL.

These ideas certainly need considering. I shall certainly make a start with NR's original suggestion. I think more feedback is necessary from members. I would like a SurvivalUK logo as this is the only group that I am signed up with. There is no reason that you could still put the other groups initials on a piece of cloth as well. With the Civil Defence badges, there will be a lot of collectors who would have them as well. Personally I am not keen on this idea. However, I await more ideas. Kenneth Eames.

you can get badges made for not a lot of money-see 50pbadges.com i think the minimum number is 6! last year at the WG i wore a badge on my cap that simply said Big Paul, you could get one for instance with just SUK on it. its not expensive and it dosent take much time but you need to get it done well in advance of the WG if that is where you are wearing it.
Some people that prefer to be alone arent anti-social they just have no time for drama, stupidity and false people.

I think we need a logo though. I'll look at getting one done for SUK but think NRs grey man symbol must be part of it.

I don't qualify for free ones but I'll look at getting some made for the meets. The way I see it is a grey man with SUK on his chest or something. Anyone got any designs they want to submit. If so just post them here and we can discuss them.

Please do anyone feel any obligation to use the Grey Man, if you have your own choices or designs go with them, I like the GM logo but this is not my forum its SDs, and its not my community its OURS.
A few ideas

I've already heard snide silly comments about SUK, could we consider
S.UK or SUK.ORG ? or somefink like that?
