RE: SO WHATS THE CONSENSUS OF OPINION
Not wanting to get into politics too much, but thats what is needed worldwide,

the problem in africa etc is just a case of too many people in an area that can't support that amount of mouths to feed.
in some cases, those with the least to say, say the most.....

yes, thats also the problem here too believe it or not, if for some reason we could not import food (no oil, wars, no money etc.) then with the land available in the UK we could only feed about 16 million people, the other 45 million+ would go hungry and starve, so dont worry about Africa the problem is nearer to home.

RE: SO WHATS THE CONSENSUS OF OPINION
What scares me the most is losing my wife. So I prep on the chance that something could happen, and I want to take care of her.

As for what events scare me the most, it'd be things that I can do very little about. Viruses, meteors and nuclear bombs! If they occur, there is very limited options. Having said that, those are also the ones I'm least scared of as well. Since there is so little I can do, I also figure that I'm going to die, so might as well just suck it up. Odd hu?

But as Hrusai said, I'm not 100% convinced something will happen. But there is a chance, and a pretty good chance, what with NKorea spitting it's dummy out, and China backing them up.

As for what I'm doing to sort it all out, in regard to prepping.....I'm building a business (if all goes to plan) that will generate enough money to buy lots of preps and a lovely off grid small holding holiday home (or BOL if you prefer haha). If the economy is down, why not build a business? The odds of success are the same in a recession, depression, or boom times! The difference is, recessions and depressions sort themselves out, boom times go bust!

The main preps at the moment, knowledge, food, water, and sorting the garden to start home growing small crops. Living as healthy a lifestyle as possible is a HUGE prep as well!!!

The collapse is ongoing. All things take time. Meteors travel for millions of years before impact and its over in a minute with the aftermath lasting for days. Economic collapse takes years as it is propped up and lied about. Pandemic takes months, nuclear war can take weeks before the millionth of a second flash.

I just make sure 90% of your prepping covers all the events I can think of and the extra 10% I prioritise on how quickly it can happen.

Scythe, Starting a business in a recission is a lot more risky than in boom times. In boom times people will buy anything because it looks nice and shiny. In a depression or a recession it needs to be useful.

Think about the timing too. NK is boiling now but your business isn't even going yet. An event is something you can't plan for long term. You plan short term and improve it long term but you need to be in a good position quickly. Everything else is a bonus.

You know me SD, always the optimist, and I love a bit of risk. If it fails, people would be more understanding. A boom business is built on a faulty platform, which so many companies now going bust have realised.....all too late. But if you can survive a recession and depression, then a boom will make you grow even faster!!!

Two threats are at this moment in time at the front of my mind,...Economic collapse and social unrest because of it,... and possibly a terrorist attack, because if I was a terrorist group I would want to hit when my enemy was at its weakest,...so it would be no surprise to me that both happened at the same time.

I also think that there is a good possibility that it has already started, many of the worlds worse events have taken years to get to the point where, [a] people start to take notice,..and [b] when the event is at its worse.

I am not in any stressed out state because of it, its going to take a bit more time yet, and if a prepper started today from scratch, they would probably be able to accumulate quiet a stockpile before they come to need it.

There is only one way to prep, and thats to gather together a stockpile of the things that you use now, its as simple as that,... if a new prepper thinks `food alone` the chances are that he would find it hard to survive,... so store for,... food, medicine, hygiene, also think about entertainment, life is going to be bad without certain luxury items,..and survival is also state of mind, so have some books, magazines, [ all of which can be bartered for new ones when you have read them ],.. also games especialy for children

....and if you need defense or hunting equipment, then think hard about that
A major part of survival is invisibility.

this has to be top of the list too, you need something to defend yourself with once all the mayhem starts.
